One of the reasons The Longhorns works so well is that it is headed up by the terrific actor, Dennis Weaver. Weaver is so talented, and he pulls off this character of R.J. Poteet with easeand great believability. Poteet is hired by John Skimmerhorn (Cliff DeYoung), the son of the ruthless Frank Skimmerhorn, to bring cattle from Texas to Colorado.
