Oct 24, 2010 · Wounded in Afghanistan while in the Army, Dr. John Watson returns to contemporary London and, through a mutual acquaintance, becomes a flatmate at Mrs. Hudson's 221B Baker Street apartment with brilliant if eccentric private investigator Sherlock Holmes.
It is loosely based upon the first Sherlock Holmes novel, A Study in Scarlet. The episode was written by Steven Moffat, who co-created the series. It was originally filmed as a 60-minute pilot for Sherlock, directed by Coky Giedroyc.
Sherlock scrutinizes the latest crime scene, where a deceased woman dressed in pink lies. Based on his deductions, he concludes that she was engaged in serial adultery and had an unhappy marriage. Unlike the previous victims, she left an unfinished note on the floor, clawing the word "Rache."
