Mar 14, 2021 · EARLY HISTORY . As early as 1300 A.D., nomadic indigenous tribes settled in the Finger Lakes area and moved northward to Lake Ontario, Irondequoit Bay, and the ponds of Greece. Hunters and gatherers, they followed the herds of migrating animals for food and clothing and made tools from their bones.
Greece, New York is located in Monroe County and is five miles northwest of Rochester and sixty-four miles east of Buffalo. It is roughly forty square miles in size. Its northern most border runs along the shores of Lake Ontario. The town benefits from easy access to the City of Rochester and surrounding towns in the Rochester metropolitan area.
