Erik Skjoldbjærg (born December 14, 1964) is a Norwegian director and writer best known for co-writing and directing the films Insomnia and Narvik. His film Pioneer was selected to be screened in the Special Presentation section at the 2013 Toronto International Film Festival.
The title of the film refers to his inability to sleep, the result of his guilt (represented by the relentless glare of the midnight sun ). Insomnia was the film debut of director Erik Skjoldbjærg. The screenplay was written by Nikolaj Frobenius and Skjoldbjærg, and the soundtrack by Geir Jenssen . The film inspired the 2002 American remake ...
Directed by Erik Skjoldbjærg and made by Nordisk Film, it stars Kristine Hartgen, Carl Martin Eggesbø, Cristoph Gelfert Mathiesen and Henrik Mestad. The film premiered in Norway in December 2022 and was released worldwide (except in Norway) on Netflix in January 2023.
