Plumas County ( / ˈpluːməs / ⓘ) is a county located in the Sierra Nevada of the U.S. state of California. As of the 2020 census, the population was 19,790. [ 3 ] The county seat is Quincy, [ 4 ] and the only incorporated city is Portola. The largest community in the county is East Quincy.
Plumas County is located near the northeast corner of California, up where the Sierra and the Cascade mountains meet. The Feather River, with its several forks, flows through the county. Quincy, the unincorporated county seat, is about 80 miles northeast of Oroville, California, and about 85 miles from Lake Tahoe and Reno, Nevada.
