Gmina Stary Sącz is an urban-rural gmina (administrative district) in Nowy Sącz County, Lesser Poland Voivodeship, in southern Poland. Its seat is the town of Stary Sącz, which lies approximately 9 kilometres (6 mi) south-west of Nowy Sącz and 75 km (47 mi) south-east of the regional capital Kraków.
Stary Sącz, one of the oldest towns in Lesser Poland, is inseparably associated with St Kinga. The town was erected thanks to her efforts, and it was her who founded its most important monument, i.e. the monastery of Poor Clares, the resting place of the saint and her live cult centre.
