Oran, city, northwestern Algeria. It lies along an open bay on the Mediterranean Sea coast, about midway between Tangier, Morocco, and Algiers, at the point where Algeria is closest to Spain.

- Walk around the city centre. Oran’s city centre is filled with numerous impressive French-built buildings. It is quite interesting, and like taking a trip back to 1940s France.

- Marché de la Bastille and Mdina Jdida Market. You will soon discover that markets are an essential part of Algerian culture. Algerians shop daily for fresh meat from the butcher stalls and fresh produce from market vendors.
