Weston is a neighbourhood and former town in Toronto, Ontario, Canada. The neighbourhood is situated in the northwest of the city, south of Highway 401, east of the Humber River, north of Eglinton Avenue, and west of Jane Street.
History of Weston. Weston was founded in 1796 shortly after Lt-Governor Simcoe sent his surveyors to the area north of Lake Ontario along the Humber River in 1792. One of his surveyors, John Countryman, saw the potential of the area, settled here and built a sawmill along the banks.
Located within 5 minutes of the 400 series highways and our GO stop (only 18 minutes to Union Station!) makes Weston ideal for getting in or out of the City. Opened in 2015, the new UP Express (UPX) runs between Union Station and Pearson airport, with a full-service stop in Weston.
Overview: Weston still looks and feels more like a small Ontario town than a big city neighbourhood. This is not surprising considering the two dominant features in Weston’s history the Humber River and the Railway, are still important landmarks in this community.
