Winterborne Came, a parish, with Cripton hamlet, in Dorsetshire, 1½ mile SE of Dorchester station on the G.W.R. Post town, Dorchester. Acreage, 1544; population of the civil parish, 130; of the ecclesiastical, 181. A nunnery cell to Caen, in Normandy, was here. Came House is the chief residence, and belongs to the Earl of Portarlington.
