May 29, 2017 · My 93 AC sprung a leak (evaporator coil). System still uses R12. I can get R12 but because R134A is a lot cheaper I'm debating whether to convert over to R134A. I'm just wondering how well a converted system cools? Here in Charleston, SC, a good AC system is a must.

Reply. Dexter5804. •. Yeah you need a conversion kit to make it work properly now in the first place. The car came stock with r12 assuming its not been converted already. Aka the new cans wont work on there own, or at least not for long. Can you confirm the Ac clutch is engaging when you push the button? The button working doesnt mean much. Reply.
