Anastasia Island is a barrier island located off the northeast Atlantic coast of Florida in the United States. It sits east of St. Augustine, running north–south in a slightly southeastern direction to Matanzas Inlet. The island is about 14 miles (23 km) long and an average of 1 mile in width.
Anastasia Island stretches from the tip of the sand bars at Anastasia State Park to the Matanzas Inlet, just past the Fort Matanzas Monument. This barrier island is about 14-miles long and averages one mile in width — bordered on the east by the Atlantic Ocean and on the west by the Matanzas River.
Anastasia island is nestled between Vilano and St Augustine beaches and offers a rare long coastline unspoiled by condos and hordes of people. They have shower and bathroom facilities, picnic benches, and a snack stand.
