Note its original exterior, with the octagonal plan ending in a huge white dome crowned by voluted counterforts. The interior, which consists of a central area delimited by columns, is even more fascinating. Church opening hours: Monday-Saturday: 9.30-12.00 and 15.00-17.30 Sunday: 9.30-12.00 and 15.00-17.30.
Its exterior is an architectural festival of exuberant volutes, scrolls, and more than 125 statues. All that busy-ness falls away when you enter the cool, restrained, and perfectly proportioned interior —which, unlike just about every other church in Venice, is suffused with light.
