Enthralling, well-made, and with impressive production values, Black Death is a haunting horror film that conveys a dark tale and provides a provocative look at the 14th Century. While it’s more of a film you admire than conventionally enjoy, it’s hard to deny that this is an incredibly scary and intelligent thriller.

Black Death is a really well shot film as well. The atmosphere is made more effective thanks to some really great shots of landscapes and of areas ravaged by the plague. Christopher Smith clearly has a good eye for capturing images that stick with you and it's never clearer than the shots presented.
