Some may not be happy with (or just confused by) the somewhat ambiguous ending, but in toto "First Snow" clicks on all counts. Recommended, especially to fans of Pearce, who by and large has an excellent knack for picking quality films to do.

Slow, plodding film noirish drama-thriller is only worth watching for Guy Pearce who gives a great performance and can't say I was exactly bored, but the ending didn't exactly have an emotional impact.
Guy Pearce does a credible job depicting the gigantic shift in Jimmy's life when he comes face-to-face with the prospect of his life ending with the first snow. His initial response is paranoia, which comes to the surface in a variety of ways.
Grade: B- This is almost a first-rate film. It has an original script that’s in some respects very strong, with the construction of a good short story, but stumbles toward the close, ending with a shot of too-heavy irony. It showcases performances that are very nearly, but not quite, exceptional.
The subdued ending might disappoint those hoping for a more lively denouement, but really, it seems just right for a tale as chilly as this one.
