- Rick Moranis - Wayne Szalinski. Rick Moranis (Ghostbusters) led the original film as Wayne, a quirky scientist. He's invented a shrinking machine that he can't get to work properly, but one day when he's not at home it ends up shrinking down both his and the next-door neighbors' children.
- Marcia Strassman - Diane Szalinski. The late Marcia Strassman played Diane in Honey, I Shrunk The Kids, Wayne's wife and a real estate agent. Her marriage to Wayne is strained due to him spending all his time building a ray gun that doesn't seem to work.
- Amy O'Neill - Amy Szalinski. Amy is the oldest of the Szalinski kids and has little interest in Wayne's inventions, unlike her brother Nick. Despite a tough exterior she's shown to care for Nick and helps lead the group through the lawn, including fighting back against the scorpion they face.

Ugly Guy, Hot Wife: Okay, Wayne isn't ugly, but he's very short and nerdy and yet he is married to the much taller and finer-looking Diane.
