  1. Many think that it is of John Jones, who died getting stuck in Nutty Putty Cave, but that is not the case. This photo is from January 2009 and the John Jones incident happened in November 2009. The authorities never released photos of John Jones in the cave. Nevertheless, it is still a pretty crazy photograph and I am curious as to what its from.

  2. The cave was called the Nutty Putty Cave. He thought he was in "birth canal" but was another part of the cave. Map's seem to label that area as "Ed's Push" but everything I've read and heard about the passage says it was uncharted. Either way, I doubt you will find many pictures other than the ones from the rescue effort.

  3. Aug 30, 2023 · Even as his family rushed to get help, John Edward Jones was still stuck some 400 feet into Nutty Putty Cave, and more than 100 feet underground. It took time for the rescuers to arrive, and the first person on the scene didn’t get there until around 12:30am. By then, Jones had already been trapped for more than three hours.

  4. His wife was pregnant when he died. She made it through school with her two little kids, and eventually fell in love again. John's father walked her down the aisle, and apparently John's two kids are told frequently by their stepfather how much their dad loved them and what a good man he was. They still attend the Jones family reunion every year.
