Fields has ignited the Bears' offense lately with a dynamic rushing ability and improved passing, but it hasn't translated to wins over the past month. His mobility naturally raises his risk of injury, and Sunday's game showed exactly that.
Siemian is first in line if Fields is forced to miss any time. The 30-year-old veteran has started games with the Broncos, Jets and Saints, and he does have a respectable 41:27 career touchdown-interception ratio.
Peterman would be elevated from the practice squad as Siemian's backup if Fields is forced to miss any time. Peterman struggled badly with turnovers across four starts with the Bills earlier in his career and hasn't thrown an NFL pass since 2020.
