Marty Roe has been a musician for over 30 years. He and his wife Robin struggled for several years while chasing their dream. Their prayers were finally answered in 1991 as Marty and his band Diamond Rio were offered a recording contract.

It was a small degree of hearing loss typically seen in musicians like Roe, who had been performing live for long periods of time. At first, Roe was cynical about it, but she restored his voice.
The formation that became known as the six-time Vocal Group of the Year, Diamond Rio, was formed in 1989 and consisted of Marty Roe (lead vocals), Jimmy Olander (guitar/banjo), Dana Williams (bass/vocals), Dan Truman (piano), Brian Prout (drums), and Gene Johnson (mandolin/vocals), and up until recently have had no member changes.
