Mehcad Jason McKinley Brooks, born October 25, 1980 in Austin, Texas, is an American actor who plays the role of Benedict "Eggs" Talley on the HBO original series True Blood. Mehcad is a former male fashion model born in Austin, Texas. Brooks attended the L.C. Anderson High School in Austin, Texas where he also grew up. After he graduated from high school, he attended Texas Southern University School of Cinematic Arts.
From 2005 to 2006, Brooks played the role of Matthew Applewhite on the popular ABC TV drama Desperate Housewives. He appeared in Glory Road, portraying Harry Flournoy--a forward at Texas Southern University, and in the 2007 film In the Valley of Elah. He guest starred opposite Tia Mowry on the TV series The Game in 2008. In 2009 he appeared on FOX's Dollhouse.
