Apr 9, 2021 · On November 26, 1504, Queen Isabella died. In her will, she left the throne of Castile to Joanna and allowed Ferdinand to act as regent. Seeking to capitalize on his wife’s new position, Philip and Joanna departed for Spain in early 1506. However, their voyage wouldn’t be easy.
Philip died before his father, and therefore never inherited his father's territories or became Holy Roman Emperor. However, his son Charles eventually united the Habsburg, Burgundian, Castilian, and Aragonese inheritances.

Death and burial. Infante Philip of Castile died on 28 November 1274, the date which is engraved on his tomb, at the age of 43. His body was buried in the Church of Santa María la Blanca, a church linked to the Order of the Temple, and located in Villalcázar de Sirga, in the province of Palencia, 10 km from Carrión de los Condes.
