When Ailric is murdered by Norman pillagers, his son Robin (Michael Praed) is adopted by the local miller and the Arrow falls into the hands of the Sheriff of Nottingham (Nickolas Grace). Some years later, at the age of 20, Robin is reluctantly cast in the role of saviour of the common people.
Using threats to set up an ambush at Wickham, and bloodhounds to follow the outlaws desperate attempt to escape back into the depths of Sherwood, it soon evolves into a dramatic life-or-death chase through the forest.
