   • We made it point of going there primarily because of the Gregorian Chants. While the chants were an important part of our visit, San Miniato is so much more. It is a beautiful church with one the best views of Florence. San Miniato was built in 1018 and located is across (oltrano) the Arno away from the city center and it’s uphill all the way.

   • After a short wait, about a half-dozen Gregorian Monks, who support and maintain the basilica, enter the area for Vespers. To the intonations of a monk, they begin to sing Gregorian chant. There is no music, just the inspirational chanting. The chants last for about 30 minutes. This is real, NOT just for tourists.
