Aug 18, 2022 · A pedestrian bridge crosses over the GW Parkway and leads to the island parking area. It's a mostly flat .6-mile walk from the Rosslyn station to the pedestrian bridge to Roosevelt Island. Roosevelt Island is open daily, from 10:00 to 6:00, and there is no admission fee. In the winter, restrooms are closed and the park provides a portable toilet.
To get to the Theodore Roosevelt Memorial, once you cross the footbridge from Virginia and stop on to the island, take a right on the wide trail at the bulletin board and then stay left at the fork just fifty yards ahead. This trail, the Woods Trail, immediately forks as well. Stay to the left once again to reach the memorial.
Theodore Roosevelt Island is accessible by a footbridge from a parking lot along the Virginia bank of the Potomac River, just north of the Theodore Roosevelt Bridge, which crosses but does not allow access to the island. Cars can enter this parking lot only from the northbound lanes of the George Washington Memorial Parkway.

Jun 12, 2023 · I recommend either taking a metro to the Rosslyn station, which is just an 11-minute walk from the island, or walking into Virginia from D.C. by crossing either the Key Bridge or the Theodore Roosevelt Bridge. Both offer excellent views of the island and the monuments in D.C.
