On April 15, 2022, Soaps.com broke the news that actress Vanessa Mathison will join the cast of GH as an executive coach named Mia. Mathison is the real-life wife of Cameron Mathison (Drew Cain) and will share scenes with him during the week of April 18.
She made her first appearance on April 21, 2022.
On April 19, 2022, Entertainment Tonight shared scenes of her appearance on GH. Vanessa hinted she may return as Mia and even teased that she might have a romance with Drew.
On July 30, 2022. Soap Opera News confirmed that Mathison will return to GH as Mia. She returned on August 9, 2022.
On April 21, 2022, Drew Cain meets with a woman named Mia at the Port Charles Grill. She says that the digital side of Aurora Media is doing well thanks to Michael Corinthos. But the print division is lagging because of him. Mia says Drew only recently took control since he returned from an extended absence. She asks if Drew would like to run a media company or do something else.
Drew wonders if he should hand his half of Aurora to Michael and go trekking in the Himalayas. Mia says it is Drew’s life and asks how he wants to spend it. Drew says he has done the mountainside but has a lot of time with family that he can’t get back. Mia says that isn’t surprising but is impressive. She explains that all execs who are asked that question choose the boardroom and then try to convince her that they are dangerous inside and live on the edge. Drew actually has been to the edge.
Drew wants to embrace the life he has and make the most of it. Running a company isn’t a noble endeavor but his family will have security. Mia says the next question is Aurora or E.L.Q.
Later Drew says Mia gave him a lot to think about. She says her work is done. He is glad they could meet face to face. She says he is a refreshing departure from her usual client. Drew says he will call her and set up their next consultation. Mia says she looks forward to it and shakes his hand before leaving.
Drew chats with Britt Westbourne and tells her that Mia is an executive coach who is helping him get the most out of his business.
On April 22, Michael tells Drew that Mia suggested he should merge Aurora and E.L.Q. Ned Quartermaine overhears and Drew explains that he got in touch with his lawyer. He can reclaim Scout Cain’s shares but Valentin Cassadine controls Danny Morgan’s shares. If one disgruntled Quartermaine flips, they will be back in the same situation as Valentin will control half the voting stock. Drew then tells Ned the merge idea. Ned notes that Drew will have the majority and wonders where it would leave him. Drew suggests they talk about it later.
