Duke Vernon, Russian-born American composer noted for his sophisticated melodies for films, Broadway musicals, and revues. Among his most popular songs are ‘April in Paris’ from the revue Walk a Little Faster (1932) and ‘I Can’t Get Started’ from Ziegfeld Follies of 1936.

Vernon Duke was a Russian-born American composer and songwriter, born Vladimir Aleksandrovich Dukelsky on October 10, 1903, in Parafianovo, Russia. He began his musical training in piano at a young age and later attended the Kiev Conservatory, where he studied composition under Reinhold Glière.
