The Appalachian Trail Conservancy (ATC) (formerly Appalachian Trail Conference) is a nonprofit organization dedicated to the conservation of the Appalachian Trail, a route in the eastern United States that runs from Maine to Georgia.
In 1937 — through the coordination and collaboration of the Appalachian Trail Conference (now the Appalachian Trail Conservancy, or ATC), several dozen land management agencies, and thousands of volunteers — that vision became a reality in the form of a continuous footpath from Georgia to Maine.
