In Earth-One continuity, Aquaman began attracting the attention of a bevy of costumed villains. These ranged from the silly (the Human Flying Fish) to the truly menacing (Ocean Master). In fact, Aquaman would later discover that the Ocean Master was actually his own brother.
- Black Manta Is Aquaman's Most Iconic Enemy. The red-eyed helmet of Black Manta is perhaps the most recognizable image in Aquaman's rogues' gallery, worn by a man dedicated to the destruction of Aquaman.
- Ocean Master is Aquaman's Tragic Brother. The story of Orm, the Ocean Master, is a tragic story. Traditionally, Orm is Arthur Curry's half-brother, at least by love if not by blood.
- The Fisherman Has A Lovecraftian Secret. The Fisherman is one of the most mysterious of Aquaman's foes. A hooded pirate specializing in theft, the Fisherman uses fishing-themed gimmick gadgetry to pull off his heists.
- Atlan Built and Destroyed Atlantis. Aquaman (aka Arthur Curry) wasn't the first king of Atlantis. That honor went to Atlan, a wise ruler who saw the land grow into seven kingdoms under his reign.
- Black Manta (David Hyde) Over the decades, Aquaman faced off against many air-breathing undersea criminal types in diving suits. Many of which remain forgotten today.
- Ocean Master (Orm Marius) Aquaman’s second most important villain is his own half-brother Orm, also known as Ocean Master. Orm has had several backstories over the years, but he’s always been Arthur Curry’s bitter sibling.
- Charybdis. Charybdis didn’t make a ton of appearances in many Aquaman comics. However, he inflicted the most pain on Arthur Curry than anyone other than Black Manta.
- Kordax. When writer Peter David created a whole history and lore for ancient Atlantis in his 1990 series The Atlantis Chronicles, one of the best additions was the villainous Kordax.

While Aquaman may not be known for having as infamous a rogues gallery as Batman or the Flash, since his appearance in 1941, the Atlantean superhero has certainly accumulated a cast of foes – the most dangerous of which stems from his own family tree.
