- Days 1 – 4: Vienna and Wachau Valley. The capital of Austria, Vienna rests on the Danube River, which runs for 1770 miles and through 10 countries. Vienna is famous for many things such as its opera and the Wiener Staatsoper (Vienna Opera House), stunning baroque architecture, music, and tasty schnitzel, strudel and coffee, just to name a few.
- Days 5 – 6: Salzburg and Hallstatt. Day 5: Vienna to Salzburg Travel Schedule. Depart Wien Hauptbahnhof, Vienna early morning. Time on train – 2h 26m. Arrive Salzburg Hauptbahnhof, Salzburg.
- Day 7: Innsbruck. Day 7: Salzburg to Innsbruck Travel Schedule. Depart Salzburg Hauptbahnhof, Salzburg early in the morning. Time on train – 1 hr 50 min. Arrive Innsbruck Hauptbahnhof, Innsbruck.
- Days 8 – 9: Füssen and Neuschwanstein Castle. Day 8: Innsbruck to Füssen Travel Schedule. Depart Innsbruck Hauptbahnhof by regional bus before noon. Time on bus – 2h 25m.

- Vienna. As the former seat of the Hapsburg Empire, Vienna is awash with impressive imperial buildings and palaces, which so comprehensively convey the wealth and power of its former monarchs.
- Salzburg. This absolutely gorgeous city appears as if from a fairytale, such is its beauty and elegance. With the imperious Hohensalzburg fortress towering over the ornate old town, the glittering Salzach River flowing by, and the beautiful mountains surrounding the area, Salzburg is simply breathtaking to behold.
- Innsbruck. Set amidst the towering Alps, ski resorts and alpine valleys surround this beautiful city. Consequently, many people head straight for the slopes rather than reveling in all that Innsbruck has to offer.
- Graz. The second largest city in the country, Graz’s roots date back to Roman times. It owes its current stature to the fact that it used to play an important role in the defense of Europe from the Ottomans.

- Arrive in Budapest. Depending on your flight, most likely you will arrive in Budapest in the morning or early afternoon. Check into your hotel, get settled, and do some exploring around your hotel.
- Budapest: Fisherman’s Bastion, Szechenyi Chain Bridge, St. Istvan’s Basilica, and Pest. Budapest is really “two cities,” Buda and Pest, that are split by the Danube River.
- Budapest: Parliament, Opera, House of Terror Museum, New York Cafe, Szechenyi Baths. In the morning, tour Parliament, Budapest’s grandest building.
- Travel from Budapest to Vienna, tour Vienna. Take a train from Budapest to Vienna. The journey takes between two to three hours and is very scenic. Once in Vienna, take the metro or a taxi to your hotel.
