Charles James Correll (February 2, 1890 – September 26, 1972) was an American radio comedian, actor and writer, known best for his work in the radio series Amos 'n' Andy with Freeman Gosden. Correll voiced the main character Andy Brown, along with various lesser characters.
Charles Correll Jr. (January 23, 1944 – June 4, 2004) was an American television director and cinematographer. The son of Charles Correll Sr. of the sitcom Amos & Andy, his brother is Richard Correll, a former child actor and later a television director.
Gosden and Correll, American comedic duo, best known for creating the Amos ’n’ Andy radio program. Freeman F. Gosden (b. May 5, 1899, Richmond, Va., U.S.—d. Dec. 10, 1982, Los Angeles, Calif.) and Charles J. Correll (b. Feb. 2, 1890, Peoria, Ill., U.S.—d. Sept. 26, 1972, Chicago, Ill.) performed.

The characters first aired as Sam ‘n Henry on Chicago’s WGN in 1926. In 1928, the duo went to rival station WMAQ as Amos ‘n’ Andy. By 1931, Amos ‘n’ Andy had become a national phenomenon, a comedic serial with nearly 40 million listeners. Movie theaters were forced to stop their features each night to pipe in the 15-minute show for their audience.
