On December 28, 2022, the band announced that Chris Fischer would be their new keyboardist starting in March 2023. Former members. Original bassist Jim Kurzdorfer died of cancer on April 26, 2011. Former drummer Ted Reinhardt died in an airplane crash on March 4, 2015, at the age of 63.

Chris Fischer, a native New Yorker who relocated to the DC area 10 years ago, is armed with the rather fanciful degree of Jazz Studies from the Hartt School of Music. On December 28th, 2022, he was announced to be joining famed Jazz Fusion group "Spyro Gyra" as their new keyboardist starting in March 2023.
Chris is the co-founder and musical director of Funkiphino. Chris plays Hammond Organ, keyboards, sings backup and is the primary songwriter/arranger for the band. In addition to co-producing three full-length CD’s for Funkiphino, he has worked with members of the band Chicago and Tower of Power.
