Episode 1: Beginnings and Endings/Anfänge und Enden The premiere episode opens in Winden in 1921 where two men are mining a passageway that would later become the portal between time periods.

- Episode 1, “Beginnings and Endings” In true Dark fashion, the season kicks off with a Nietzsche quote and a very cold open — two characters we’ve never seen before, in a year we’ve never visited before: 1921.
- Episode 2, “Dark Matter” The blob is revealed to be the “God Particle.” Jonas is working on it as he listens to a recording of Claudia talking about it.
- Episode 3, “Ghosts” In ‘86, child Helge is in the room with the blue wallpaper, being strapped into the scary chair by Noah. Helge receives an unsettling pep talk, and he seems both flatter and vaguely disturbed by Noah.
- Episode 4, “The Travelers” This episode opens with Jonas, who we didn’t see at all last episode, falling into the set of Midsommar. The sun is so bright it’s eerie, and fields are expansive and undeveloped.

Who is Noah in Dark Season 2?
- Jonas Kahnwald. In 2053, six months after the end of Season 1, young Jonas is in a Winden destroyed by a nuclear holocaust 33 years ago, desperate to get back to 2020 to prevent the apocalypse from happening.
- Claudia Tiedemann. In 1987, adult Claudia comes face-to-face with the older version of herself, who stops by for a surprise visit at the nuclear power plant and reveals the truth about time travel.
- Noah. In 1921, young Noah is digging the tunnel that, in 33 years, will contain the wormhole connecting 1954, 1987, and 2020. His older, unnamed companion (who bears a striking resemblance to Bartosz) expresses a loss of faith in Sic Mundus' mission; in response, Noah murders him.
- The Kahnwalds. Hannah Kahnwald, after being shown the truth of time travel by adult Jonas, steals his time machine to travel to 1954 and visit her former lover, Ulrich Nielsen, in prison.
