Character Summaries. Eragon is a 16 year old ex-farm hand from Carvahall, named for the very first Dragon Rider and now one of the last dragon riders. He finds a dragon egg while hunting in the local mountain rages and trains his dragon in secret.
Eragon and his dragon, Saphira, have just saved the rebel state from destruction by the mighty forces of King Galbatorix, cruel ruler of the Empire. Now Eragon must travel to Ellesméra, land of the elves, for further training in magic and swordsmanship, vital skills for a Dragon Rider.
