Itinerant and shiftless Pa Hack (Milton Selzer) is the worthless father of three grown, ragged children. He bullies his two sons into stealing for their meager pot. When the Hack clan runs across a farm owned by a man named Willis (Russell Thorson) and his son Jeb (Jim Hampton), they manage to beg some flour and coffee and steal a couple of chicken...

The longtime series pilot episode, "Matt Gets It", was 317 episodes before and the series finale, "The Sharecroppers" in Season 20(series episode #365) the series conclusion, was 317 episodes after. 2.
