Staton produced art for various comics published by Charlton, Marvel Comics, and Warren Publishing during the 1970s. Hired initially by Roy Thomas to work for Marvel, Staton was then recruited by Paul Levitz to work on DC Comics' revival of the Justice Society of America in All Star Comics and later Adventure Comics.
Joe Staton began his career at Charlton Comics in 1971, where his most notable work was the creation of 'E-Man' with Nick Cuti in 1973. His art was also present in 1970s Marvel and Warren titles (he inked Sal Buscema's 'Hulk' stories), but he is best known for his work for DC Comics.
