    Phillips grew up on a council estate in Hackney, with her single mother and attended university on scholarships and hard work.     When her friend is assaulted by Dr. Alec Merrick at a gynecology exam, Phillips goes to see him as well to try to gather evidence against him. He does some questionable touching of her in one visit and she reports it to the police, but they can not arrest him. She goes back to Merrick for another visit and while there, he rapes her forcing the police's hand and as well as the prosecutors. (UK: "Alesha")

    While investigating a train accident caused by a car being placed in the path of said train, it was suspected that the accident was meant to harm or kill Alesha as that was the train she had taken to work. However, Alesha had left her role as a Crown Prosecutor in London to become a Senior Crown Prosecutor in the Northwest and as such had not been on board the train. The police then find that the car was left on the tracks as part of a suicide attempt. (UK: "Tracks")
