Because of her association with Dr. Blanton, who was State Superintendent of Public Instruction in Texas from 1918-1922, Lela Lee Williams was a natural choice to help found Delta Kappa Gamma. After the initiation, Miss Williams began planning to establish a chapter in Dallas.
Dallas, Texas, welcomed Lela Lee Williams to its schoolrooms in1908, and she spent the next 45 years serving the students there in a variety of positions. She believed in experimentation, always seeking to expand her knowledge and skills so that she could improve teaching.
