Plot. Lee Chandler is a depressed and asocial janitor who lives alone in a basement apartment in Quincy, Massachusetts. One day, he receives a phone call informing him that his brother Joe, a fisherman who lives in Manchester-by-the-Sea, has suffered cardiac arrest; Joe dies before Lee can make it to the hospital.
Synopsis. Lee Chandler (Casey Affleck), a sullen and quiet handyman for a society of apartments for the elderly in Quincy, Massachusetts. Mr Emery (Stephen Henderson) is Lee's boss. When the tenants of the apartments mistreat Lee, he is rude and unfriendly towards them. This leads the tenants to complain against him.

And then, while shovelling the snow, he gets the call about his brother who has been hospitalized. Before he can reach the hospital, his brother dies and Lee is left to handle the aftermath.
