Jul 21, 2022 · MOLOCH is a very unsettling horror film, full of omens and building dread. The supernatural elements are woven into the story in a believable way that never comes off as absurd. The characters react like real human beings who find themselves in bizarre, dangerous circumstances, not like action heroes.

If you dig deep enough for it, folklore in any culture is not hard to carve into a chilling horror film. Many filmmakers have tried their hand at it. It can produce a bit of a mixed bag, but it’s still good enough for puritan genre enthusiasts.
Moloch (2022) is well worth the watch. I watch a good amount of horror movies and this one really caught me by surprise. It's a well done folk horror mystery that stays entertaining throughout. If you haven't seen it, I would recommend checking it out, I found it on Shudder.

Moloch opens in 1991 as a young girl feeding a mouse is frightened by the sounds of what sounds like an extremely violent attack in the room above her. Soon, blood is raining from between the floorboards and pouring down the walls onto the terrified girl.
