Nancy Selvin (born 1943) is an American sculptor, recognized for ceramic works and tableaux that explore the vessel form and balance an interplay of materials, minimal forms, and expressive processes.
- Her use of fabrics is remarkable. It’s often lush and/or light, but she’s not afraid to mix contrasting fabrics with high texture and subtle patterns.
- Sisal, seagrass, rattan, cane, or any other natural fibers are always present. It can be a rug, future, lighting, etc. But it’s always there.
- Drapes that hang above the window frame. The minimum is 6″ to as much as 18-24″ above. It all depends on the height of your ceilings. A good tip is to not go above half the space between the frame and ceiling.
- Books are on display. Whether they are stacked on a coffee table or line a built-in shelf, they are always in her spaces.
