Orion Pictures was founded in 1978, and after various changes of ownership, ended its first existence in 1999. MGM, the current owner of the label, revived in 2014 after a 15-year hiatus, with both the original and the revived company using some form of this logo until 2022.
Upon being reactivated by MGM in 2014, Orion Pictures used a slightly different design of its original logo.
On July 20, 2022, the revived Orion Pictures company introduced a logo that was nothing like its predecessors design-wise, although a line still goes through its wordmark.
Starting in 2018, the logo was slightly updated; here the "Pictures Release" text is just replaced with "Pictures" and there is now an MGM byline. The freeze-frame, which was designed to hide the Warner Bros. references, remains on this version.
