Whistling in Dixie (1942) was the second in a series of three films starring Red Skelton and Ann Rutherford for Metro-Goldwyn-Mayer in the early 1940s. The initial film, Whistling in the Dark (1941), was a remake of the 1933 Ernest Truex film of the same name. It proved to be very popular with audiences and made Skelton a star.
