  5. Richard Hecht joined the faculty in the 1970s to offer a series of courses in Hebrew Bible and in the religious history of Jews. Hebrew text courses were offered in the Department of Religious Studies in the mid-1970s and included Biblical, Rabbinic, medieval and modern texts.
