Argentinian pop balladeer Sandro was born in Buenos Aires on August 19, 1945. Passionate about music from an early age, he loved to imitate the king of rock, Elvis Presley. A member of several groups during the early '60s, Sandro's first solo single, "¿A Esto Llamas Amor?," was released in 1963. The artist's breakthrough came in 1967 when Sandro won a Buenos Aires festival, singing his song "Quiero Llenarme de Ti." Soon the singer was performing in major venues, including New York's Madison Square Garden in 1970. Further evidence of his popularity came in 1971 when Sandro performed before 60,000 people at San Lorenzo's stadium.
