Aug 29, 1997 · Ruth Conte, the former actress Ruth Storey who appeared in such films as “Bells Are Ringing” and “In Cold Blood,” then went on to become a psychotherapist, has died. She was 84.
Conte was married to actress Ruth Storey, with whom he adopted a son, film editor Mark Conte. In 1950, Conte and Storey were living at 1366 San Ysidro Drive in Beverly Hills. They divorced in 1963. He married his second wife, Shirlee Colleen Garner (1935-2014), in 1973; they remained married until Conte's death.
Ruth Storey was born in New York City in 1913. The wife of actor Richard Conte, she was largely a character actress whose career ran from 1953 to 1981, encompassing only six pictures. She was a latecomer to films with her debut in The Blue Gardenia (1953), being 40 years old at the time.
