- Borrowers can apply for forgiveness any time up to five years from the date that SBA issued the SBA loan number. If borrowers do not apply for forgiveness within 10 months after the last day of the covered period, then PPP loan payments are no longer deferred, and borrowers will begin making loan payments to their PPP lender.

Jul 28, 2021 · The SBA is simplifying the forgiveness process for millions of smallest businesses that used PPP loans to survive the pandemic. Borrowers can apply through the portal starting from August 4, 2021, and lenders can opt-in to participate.
If you are not eligible to use this form, you must apply for forgiveness of your PPP loan using SBA Form 3508 or 3508EZ (or lender’s equivalent form). Each PPP loan must use a separate loan forgiveness application form.
