- The original Shaft was suave, cool, and level-headed. Though the plot was pretty formulaic, at least the character was enjoyable and funny. The emphasis on anger and social justice infused in this remake results in diminished charm and an occasionally pretty uncomfortable experience (e.g. the beat down of the drug dealer).
