The Bell Telephone Hour. In a mythical Japan, Ko-Ko, a cheap tailor, has been appointed Lord High Executioner and must find someone to execute before the arrival of the ruling Mikado. He lights upon Nanki-Poo, a strolling minstrel who loves the beautiful Yum-Yum.
The Bell Telephone Hour begins its seventh TV season with an all-star cast: Bing Crosby, the McGuire Sisters, actor-balladeer Burl Ives and concert pianist Grant Johannesen. Donald Voorhees conducts the orchestra.
The TV show, seen on NBC from January 12, 1959, to April 28, 1968, was one of the first TV series to be telecast exclusively in color, using the color TV system perfected by RCA in 1954. It aired every week on Friday evenings at 10:00 pm, then was switched to Tuesday evenings at 10:00 pm in 1963.
