Michaela McManus is an American actress who plays Teleya in The Orville.
McManus grew up in Warwick, Rhode Island. She attended and graduated from Fordham University, and later attended NYU's graduate acting program before leaving to pursue acting in Los Angeles, California. She played Lindsey Strauss on the show One Tree Hill.
McManus was originally brought on as Teleya for a single episode, Krill, as a guest, but after her performance was written into more episodes for Season 2.
McManus's role on The Orville was revealed on May 24, 2017 by Seth MacFarlane to which director Jon Cassar complimented her for "absolutely slaying it" during filming and "bringing grace" to her character Teleya. In December 2018, fans learned that McManus would return as recurring character Janel Tyler. However, her two characters were one and the same: her second character is her first character in disguise.

Teleya was a Krill soldier, schoolteacher, and the Supreme Chancellor of Krill. Until 2419, Teleya was stationed as a teacher aboard the Yakar until its capture. She was later a prisoner of the Planetary Union until her escape and return to the Krill.

She starred as Tara on the NBC series Awake in 2012, and as Grace Karn on Aquarius in 2015. In 2017, McManus had supporting roles in SEAL Team as Alana Hayes, and The Orville as the Krill Teleya. She appeared in the short lived NBC series The Village as Sarah Campbell in 2019.
Captain Ed Mercer and Helmsman Gordon Malloy of the USS Orville go undercover aboard a Krill ship to steal a copy of the Krill holy book. The episode was written by David A. Goodman, breaking from the majority of the season's episodes which were written by creator Seth MacFarlane, and directed by Jon Cassar.
