After reading everyone's post, I can in 100% say this is the actual ending. All three castaways were in a very bad, no-win situation. There were several possible outcomes to the tense situation they were in because of the son's natural, hormonal, reproductive urges.

Mar 1, 2017 · Although a fair number of theaters did end up showing the movie, it was quickly apparently that the buzz about the film didn't translate into public interest. The scathing reviews helped provide the coup de grace.
Father and son end up in a savage game of life and death, and rather than presenting this plot device in a Greek tragic way like "Oedipus", that just stops the film cold as it really serves no purpose other than to shock, at least those who haven't tuned out.
