Matthew Shafer (born June 6, 1974), also known by his stage name Uncle Kracker, is an American singer and musician. He was previously a turntablist for Kid Rock 's backing group Twisted Brown Trucker and since 1999 has recorded as a solo artist. His singles "Follow Me" and "Drift Away" were top 10 hits on the Billboard Hot 100 .
No matter what he does or where he goes, Uncle Kracker adheres to a simple, yet rather timeless philosophy. “I really subscribe to this mindset of just having fun,” he affirms. “That’s what it’s always about. Feb 19, 2024 · Uncle Kracker first came to fame as a turntablist for Kid Rock’s backing group, Twisted Brown Trucker. In 2000, he branched out on his own with his first solo album, Double Wide. The album was a hit, peaking at No. 7 on the Billboard 200 and eventually certifying 2x Platinum.
